Much of the classical range is made using reclaimed timber, particularly Northern Elm, or Yumu. This wood was widely used for furniture in Shanghai and northern China and has a distinctive grain. Seasoned reclaimed timber is well suited to furniture making and gives each finished piece its own natural variation.

The result is furniture intended for regular household use rather than purely decorative display. A black lacquer finish changes the appearance, but the cabinet beneath it remains a solid piece of traditionally influenced Chinese furniture.
