Small Two Door Gansu Sideboard
Gansu, circa 1920
With traces of red lacquer around the front frames this lovely cabinet has wonderful autumnal tones with its dark wood top surface and sides displaying the lovey wood grain. Made from pine and once used to store rice or grain, the original fixed front panels have been converted into doors for easier access to the inside. Each door still has feint traces of the old landscape paintings set on a dark cream background, and is framed with a decorative carved moulding to the the top tinged in a now faded teal colour.
