Indian Silk Painting, Red Tree of Life
This wonderful painting is one of a series produced in Orissa, eastern India. Known as Tassar Patta, the style is one of the oldest and most revered in India and paintings like this, originally applied to palm leaves, were often used for decorating temples and for local festivals. Our paintings are on silk to make them more durable but are otherwise produced in exactly the same way, with each piece taking weeks to complete due to the level of detail and accuracy. They are sold mounted and framed as shown. Please note that as each painting is individually produced by hand every design varies though the basic size and shape is the same. Please let us know if you would like a photo of the actual piece we have in stock.
