Blue Bamboo and Butterflies 2
These gorgeous prints are reproductions of originals painted onto silk in a traditional Chinese painting technique known as 'Gongbi'. They show dancing butterflies on a backdrop of bamboo and peony flowers in soft, pastel blues. Butterflies are often incorporated into paintings and other artistic forms in China as a symbol for long life and marital happiness - we often see them adorning our Chinese antique furniture, while the peony denotes high rank and status. The prints are in a classic Chinoiserie style, wonderfully detailed down to each brush stroke. Available individually or as one of a pair, the two look perfect together hung over a sideboard or console to create a feature wall in your home.
Available in two sizes, either unframed or mounted and framed in a choice of plain black or white frames.
The prints are from a collection by Diane Hill, a wonderfully talented London artist specialising in Chinoiserie style watercolours on silk. Diane uses a mixture of precision Chinese and European brushes, painting onto silk backed with rice paper to produce sharp, crisp detail and rich bright colours. The original paintings are digitised to create prints that are perfect reproductions. capturing each one of Diane's brush strokes and the lovely. soft texture of the silk.
