Blanket Trunk, Light Elm
The light finish on this particular blanket trunk is simply stunning. Used for storing everything from bedding and clothes to toys and games, our wooden trunks hark back to the traditional chests which were extremely common in Chinese homes. They were often stacked in twos or threes in bedrooms or placed on top of cabinets for storing winter clothes or bedding. Most popular was camphor wood as it acts as a natural insect repellent but elm was also favoured, as in our version which is made from solid reclaimed elm wood, produced using proper dovetail joints and with a metal stay to prevent the lid from falling shut. The circular brass lock plate gives each one that classic oriental style, enhanced by the red tassel that comes with all of our trunks. The inside is finished in a light wood stain.
