Apothecary's Cabinet, Warm Elm
Chinese herbalists have used chests, like our warm elm version, with multiple drawers, for centuries, to hold the herbs and remedies of their profession. In some cases these would hold dozens of drawers, each one split into three or four sections and labelled to show the contents. Our apothecary cabinet is a slightly more modern interpretation of the classic medicine chest, with a cabinet section at the bottom and 12 drawers above. The drawers are slightly larger than on most original chests, each being ideally sized to hold up to 25 CDs. They are also deep enough to hold DVDs if placed with the spine facing upwards. The cabinet also works well in a bedroom for holding socks, tights or underwear. The drawers are dovetailed and fitted with brass handles.
