Our ever-changing selection of Chinese antique furniture includes a wide range of stunning sideboards, side cabinets and storage cabinets. Each item is carefully sourced by us directly from China and is chosen for its unique beauty and original charm. All pieces are lovingly restored in China by skilled craftsmen who use traditional joinery techniques to return items to their former glory, without losing any of their rich patina.
Sideboards were originally used in China to store foodstuffs such as rice and grain, or for keeping precious items safe. Nowadays they make practical yet beautiful storage furniture, ideal for stowing away clutter. Although many of our antique items have been altered to make them more suitable for modern living, with the additional internal shelves, for example, they still retain their original charm. In addition, you’ll find that many are decorated with old paintings, elaborately carved motifs or rich lacquered finishes.

Specially designed to replicate many of the original design features used in traditional Chinese furniture making, our range of newly made Chinese sideboards offer a wonderful combination of elegant, oriental styling with modern practicality.
Available in a wide collection of styles ranging from industrial or rustic simplicity, through to ornate pieces available with lustrous lacquered finishes. All of our reproduction furniture is handmade in China from reclaimed (as far as possible) solid woods and using traditional joinery techniques. Local elm wood has been used in Northern China for furniture making for centuries and this is used to make most of our reproduction furniture, whilst we also use poplar and pine in some of our other reproduction ranges.
