Three Drawer Elm Temple Table
Shaanxi, circa 1860
This mid 19th century temple table is from Shaanxi province in central China. Still in its original black and red lacquer finish, which has dulled over time and shows signs of wear particularly around the lower legs and top surface. The brass hardware and studs are also original and are a distinctive feature of furniture from the region. With an extended, thick top and three deep drawers, the table is ideal for storage in a reception room or hallway.
