Three Door Sideboard with Flowers
Gansu, circa 1900
This wonderful Chinese sideboard still has its original paintings. Although faded, the creams, reds and greens really stand out on the black lacquer background of the doors and the frames. The images show various types of flowers including peonies, a symbol of high rank and status, as well as butterflies for happiness and a Chinese peacock to indicate nobility. Perfect for all manner of storage, whether it be crockery and plates in a dining room or books and DVDs in a living room.
