Temple Table with Three Carved Drawers
Shaanxi, circa 1860
This beautifully carved temple table comes from Shaanxi and is made from elm. The hand carved relief patterns on the drawers are a nice example of the style and craftsmanship of the region and are framed with metal studs. Each drawer is fitted with a simple brass drop handle. The original finish has worn over time to leave an autumnal reddish brown tone. With a thick, extended lid, the table would make a stunning statement piece in a lounge or reception room.
