Silk Embroidery - 'Crane'
These beautiful pieces are reproductions of embroidered silk designs that were used to decorate the robes of Chinese officials and their wives during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Each is hand stitched in silk and sold framed as shown. This particular silk is a reproduction of a 2nd rank civil official's badge, the crane denoting that the wearer was highly educated and well read. Please note that each piece is stitched by hand and so designs may vary slightly from the example shown.
