Its warm ochre-yellow finish is richly worn, with dark markings and exposed wood bringing out the texture of the surface. A rectangular floral painting spans the centre of the front, showing pink peonies - a symbol for nobility - and green foliage against a pale background, framed by the deeper yellow surrounding it.

The original fixed front panels have been adapted into two doors, preserving the painted decoration while making the interior easier to access. Small metal drop handles complete the doors, which open to reveal a spacious cupboard divided by a single removable shelf. Moulded borders, a broad lower rail and sturdy straight legs give the cabinet a simple, substantial appearance.

A lovely addition to a living room or dining room, the cabinet offers useful storage for tableware, glasses or other household items, with space on top for a lamp and favourite objects. Its golden colour and delicate floral detail would bring warmth and interest to any interior.
