Low Three Drawer Table with Dragon Carvings
Shanxi, circa 1880
The workmanship in the open relief carving on the bottom apron and spandrels of this wonderful little table is exquisite, and is the form of scrolling dragons. The spandrels at the back are also carved. The table is made from elm and is still in the original black lacquer finish, now faded and worn over the years, the ring handles on each of the three drawers are also old. An unusual piece - it is rare to find such lovely carvings still intact - the table is a nice size to be used as a small coffee table.
