Large Qinghai Painted Pine Sideboard
Qinghai, circa 1880
The deep red, green and blue used to decorate this large sideboard would once have been even more vibrant but are still very striking. Originally a grain storage cabinet accessed through a lid in the top, the three panels in the front have been converted into doors, with three drawers added below. Each panel is decorated with a painting of a flower vase, set against a cream circle that contrast with the surrounding red. The shelves inside are removable.
