Large Antique Lattice Carved Wooden Panel
Jiangxi, circa 1880
Unusually, this large rectangular panel has a simple lattice section at the bottom below a more intricate scrolling pattern that incorporates a central carved floral motif. It dates from the later part of the Qing dynasty and was produced as an internal window panel for a home in the southeastern Chinese province of Jiangsu. The main section is made from camphor wood, beautifully carved in scrolling patterns with various smaller carved flowers. It would make a lovely decorative architectural feature in a contemporary setting.
