Grey Lacquer Flour Sideboard
Shanxi, circa 1850
This old sideboard is from Shanxi province and would once have served as a storage container for holding flour or other foodstuffs. It has been adapted for use as a more contemporary style sideboard, with the three front panels being converted into doors. The cabinet is made from elm wood and the finish is new - a distressed grey lacquer that gives it a more modern twist. With a fixed shelf inside each section it would be ideal for living room or bedroom storage.
