Gansu Distressed Blue Sideboard
Gansu, circa 1920
Given a new lease of life with a distressed blue lacquer, this simple double cabinet is from Gansu province in western China, originally used to store grain. The two doors have been added using the old fixed panels and the top opening sealed, making this a more contemporary style sideboard. The thick outer frames are rounded, and the two panels below the doors are in beautiful open carving. There is a removable shelf inside each section.
