Antique Tibetan Pine Box
Tibet, circa 1860
This lovely old box is from Tibet, now a quite rare piece as furniture and artefacts from the region have become scarce over recent years. It has been refinished but still has the beautiful old relief carving on the front and sides. The central decorative design is of a bird, possibly a heron to symbolise purity and patience, flying in the clouds. The box opens at the side.
