Set of Four Carved Lattice Wall Panels
Anhui, circa 1880
This wonderful set of carved window panels would once have been fitted inside a timber-framed traditional home in Anhui province. They are beautifully made, with individual pieces of wood smoothed and fitted together using only mortise and tenon joints rather than any nails or glue. Surrounding the central square of each panel are six carvings, depicting various nuts and fruit - symbols in China for longevity, wealth or good fortune. Sold as a set of four, the panels would add a wonderful decorative element to a wall. The price shown is for the set.
