Pair of Chinese Antique Beech Stools
Suzhou, circa 1900
This pair of square stools are made of beech wood. The horse hoof feet and recessed waist are a distinctively Chinese design and these are typical of stools used for occasional seating throughout China. The soft rattan inlays in the seat tops are supported underneath by a woven material and a curved wooden central frame - an original feature that differs from the replacement harder inlays seen on most antique stools. Sold as a pair, the price shown is for the two stools.
