Pair of Antique Elm Flower Stands
These tall, elegant tables were originally used as flower stands and would still make lovely vase stands today. They are made from elm, with a rich, dark finish and lacquer that brings out the beauty of the wood. They date from the mid 19th century, produced in Shanxi province in central China. The style is very simple, with a central panel in the top set into thick frames and a single shelf lower down. The ingenious joinery of the Chinese carpenters is evident here, with the ends of the neat, mitred tenon joints visible through the legs and top surface. Sold as a pair, the price shown is for both tables.
