Low Blue Crackled Painted Sideboard
Gansu, circa 1920
This lovely sideboard is a nice height to be used as a TV stand, or could be used as a dining room buffet. The top surface, sides and frames have been refinished in a gorgeous, crackled blue lacquer over the original red, giving a wonderful character to this old piece. The doors are each painted with fairly rudimentary paintings of mountain landscapes in green and black against a cream background, and fitted with a new brass handle. the three doors, converted from what were originally fixed panels, open up to a single shelf inside.
