As well as our range of handcrafted Chinese furniture, Shimu now stocks a beautiful collection of antique Chinese furniture. We work closely with our suppliers in Beijing and Shanghai to source the finest antique pieces from China's provinces, dating from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. These are then carefully restored to bring them back to their form beauty while maintaining the wonderful patina that has formed over decades and which gives these pieces their individual character.
Our antique furniture comes from all over China - decorated chests from Tibet, walnut cabinets from Gansu, rich cinnabar red sideboards from Qinghai, painted cabinets from Shanxi, camphor chests from Beijing and much, much more.
Our first shipment of antiques arrives later in March and is already available to view online. The collection is as diverse as the country they come from and we hope that you will find something to inspire you. Look out for a black lacquer sideboard from Qinghai, beautifully decorated with dancing butterflies and flowers; a 300 year old elm coffer from Shanxi; and our unusual 'tiger' trunks from Tibet.
