 |  07/06/08 - Chinese Treasures Exhibition opens at Lotherton Hall
As part of the ‘China in Yorkshire’ celebrations for 2008, The Chinese Treasures exhibition is now open at Lotherton Hall, near Leeds. On show until the 31st December will be the best of Leeds’ Chinese collections, including ceramics, costumes and many other aspects of Chinese culture. Shimu is pleased to have been able to assist with the loan of selected pieces from its classical range of Chinese furniture, as well as a number of smaller accessories.
The displays cover various topics of Chinese history and culture and its influence on Western society. Topics include Food & Drink, Pots & Precious Things, Calligraphy, Painting & Print, Fashion & Furnishings, and Performance & Play.
As well as the exhibition, various events and activities will be taking place both at Lotherton Hall and at other venues around the region, including calligraphy workshops, kite making and Chinese lantern making.
