 |  01/12/09 - Shimu signs up to 10:10 to cut carbon emissions
In November 2009, Shimu joined the ambitious 10:10 initiative to cut 10% of carbon emissions in 2010.
The 10:10 campaign has been initiated to encourage government bodies, businesses, schools and private individuals to take the first steps towards curbing their emissions. We can all do something to reduce our carbon emissions and 10:10 embraces a simple approach to attain achievable targets.
At Shimu, we are looking at internal initiatives to help achieve this commitment. This includes reducing energy use in our showroom, minimising business travel, optimising efficiencies in container shipments, looking at ways to reduce packaging and increase packaging recycling, as well as working with our suppliers to reduce indirect carbon emissions.
To date over 1600 businesses, 1000 schools, 800 organisations and 48,000 individuals have signed up to 10:10. To learn more about the initiative or to sign up to personally join the scheme visit the 10:10 website
