This beautiful painted cabinet is typical of pieces from Shanxi province in Northern China - well known for the quality of its furniture making. The Chinese would often decorate cabinets with painted designs, or even with inlaid semi-precious stones, normally against a black lacquer surface. Common themes included pictures of family antiques and curios or, as in our version, scenes of women and children playing in the garden. Our cabinet is lacquered, gilded and painted by hand. It makes a very striking TV cabinet (ask us about custom sizes if you have a large TV) or use it for living room or bedroom storage. Includes three removable shelves inside and two small drawers. Please note that as these cabinets are hand-painted, variations in design and finish will differ slightly from the example shown.
