Although Chinese cabinets would sometimes contain small drawers on the inside, the Chinese did not use chests of drawers for storing clothes as we do today. Our oriental style chest of drawers is therefore not strictly a Ming design, but we like to think that it is in keeping with the ethos of that time. The simple design, including an apron stretching across the bottom that is typically seen on Ming period furniture, gives it a contemporary look that still has more than a hint of Chinese style. The striking circular brassware echoes the large lock plates of our Chinese wardrobes and cabinets. Made of reclaimed elm, the drawers are mounted on metal runners to ensure smooth opening and closing.
Part of our Classical Chinese furniture range, handcrafted from reclaimed elm wood and available in a choice of warm elm, light elm or black lacquer. Other finishes and sizes can be made to order. Love this item? Add it to mydeco.
