Our Chinese altar table is of a classic design and wonderfully hand carved. In fact the English term altar table is a misnomer as these pieces were used not only for holding incense burners and food and drink as offerings to ancestors, but also as more general display tables for flowers, vases and other ornaments. The carving at the top of the table legs is decorated with scrolling Chinese 'chi' dragons - a theme that was more common during the Qing dynasty. Place this table against a wall, add vases and ornaments and step back into 17th century China.
