Large Blanket Trunk

Qinghai, circa 1850
This large trunk is in pine wood, still with the original dark red lacquer and hardware. It originates from Qinghai province in western China, where it would have been used in a bedroom to store clothes and fabrics. In a western home it is a nice size to site at the foot of a bed, or for use as a long coffee table.
