This table shows some of the classic features of design that were seen from early on in the Ming dynasty, and continued through to the 20th century. The table has recessed legs, each with ‘cloud shaped’ spandrels, and an extended lid. Table like this were used to serve food and drink – hence the name wine table, but may also have had other uses. This one has been refinished more recently but still keeps the characteristics and beauty of the original piece. Perfect today as a console table.
