Side Table

Beijing, circa 1900
This little side table is in the relatively plain style of much furniture from Beijing and northern China. It shows some classic features, such as the waisted top and hump-back stretchers. There is also some very simple carving on the front. The dark reddish lacquer finish has worn particularly on the legs, showing the natural elm colour beneath.
