Gansu, circa 1900This simple long, low table is from Gansu in western China. The style is very basic, with three drawers below the top extended surface and straight legs. There is some simple carved decoration on the front of the middle drawer. The dark lacquer has weathered and worn over the years, leaving an interesting patina over the top and front surfaces. The table may possibly have been cut down from a taller table at one stage, and is a perfect height to be used as an interesting modern day coffee table.
