Tibet, circa 1920Original Tibetan furniture is becoming more and more difficult to source, to the extent that almost all of the pieces seen today are either reproductions or at have at least been repainted. So when we do come across a piece like this, which still has its original finish and paintings, it feels very special. The table top is decorated with a dragon design, now very faded with the black lacquer surface severely worn down to show the wood below (most probably pine). The two front drawers and sides of the table are in a yellow lacquer, with simple paintings of flowers in red and green. A rare and beautiful piece that would make a wonderful little coffee table today.
