Carved Coffer Table

Shaanxi, circa 1860
This beautiful table, with the carved relief of flowers on its three drawers, is a good example of furniture from Shaanxi province, where cabinets and coffers tended to be decorated with ornate carvings. The colour and carvings are all original, and the finish has been left quite natural rather than having a new varnish applied.
