Yunnan, circa 1900This unusual table comes from Yunnan province in southern China. It still shows its original reddish colouring, as well as the beautiful carvings on the legs and around the apron, depicting birds and flowers. The front stretcher shows the typical ‘S’ shape detail common in Ming and Qing furniture. This would once have been used as a side table for serving food and wine and today would make a beautiful console in a reception room.
