Kang Table

Small, low tables like this were used on the heated ‘kang’ platform found in homes in northern parts of China, and used to serve food and refreshments. This one is made from elm, simple in shape with subtly curved legs and a waisted top. The colour is original, with much of the lighter lacquer still visible on the top surface. Great today as a little coffee table.
