Gansu circa 1880This long table is in walnut, originating from the western part of Gansu province. The style is very simple compared to many similar pieces, with just the waisted table top and subtly curved cabriole legs adding decoration. Originally used as an altar table to hold offerings to ancestors, it is a nice size today as a modern console or even a narrow desk, with the pure, refined style allowing it to fit easily into a more contemporary setting.
