Mongolia, circa 1860This large bench comes from Mongolia, and though faded over time the paintings of flowers on the front are original. The colours - yellows, reds and greens - are typical of the furniture produced in the region. They would once have been far brighter, with the frames finished in deep black and red lacquers. The bench has been left largely in its original state, giving a wonderful rustic appearance. Place it at the end of a bed or use it as a long, low table.
