Mongolia, circa 1920This pretty little cabinet is from inner Mongolia and the palette of colours - with its bright reds, yellows and blues - is typical of furniture from the region. Each of the two doors is decorated with a vase of flowers as well as scrolls, denoting the status of the owner, while flowers adorn the two upper drawers. As well as the paintings the lacquer is original, now worn away in places on the front and especially on the top to show the natural colour of the pine wood underneath. The cabinet has one removable shelf inside
