Mongolia, circa 1900This lovely little cabinet would work as a great little sideboard today. It originates from Mongolia and the paintings on the doors and lower panel are in colours typical of the region - the greens, reds and blues now faded into soft, subtle hues rather than the vivid colours they started as. The doors are mounted on wooden dowels that slot directly into the cabinet's frame and this, together with the cabinet's simple 'square-cornered' shape gives a quite modern profile. The central post between the doors is removable and the single shelf inside has been added recently to give added practicality.
