Elm Sideboard

Beijing, circa 1860
The lacquer finish on this piece has been stripped back to reveal the elm wood beneath, with its beautiful tone and grain. The cabinet has some simple carving at each side and at the bottom apron, but is otherwise simple in style. With three drawers and four doors, it would work perfectly as a dining sideboard or perhaps in a reception room.
